Glasgow and Louisville Bases Take Part in Mock Crash Drills

The AMKY Glasgow base participated in Barren County High School’s Prom Promise on April 29, along with the coroner and local EMS, police, and fire agencies. Designed to educate students on the dangers of poor choices, the exercise was particularly meaningful to friends of BCHS student Molly Thompson, 17, who died in a crash last December after losing control of her vehicle. Although the flight crew had to respond to a call during the actual event, the aircraft made an appearance after ambulances had left, letting students get an up-close look.

The Louisville (KY-7) base joined Zoneton Fire, Bullitt County EMS, and the Bullitt County Sheriff's Department May 14 to demonstrate the dangers of irresponsible choices to seniors at North Bullitt High School in Shepherdsville, Ky.

Although this program has been presented in previous years, this year was especially poignant for the students because of the tragic death last year of the school's star football player, who was killed by a drunk driver. Participating as victims in this demonstration was that young man's parents and girlfriend.
