Louisville Base Participates in North Oldham HS Mock Drill
In the minds of high schoolers, the season of spring is often associated with prom events. Local fire,
EM S,
and law enforcement agencies take advantage of that fact and put on a multitude of mock-crash drills throughout the state to emphasize the realities of driving under the influence. Air Methods Kentucky is proud to be involved with these events, and the Louisville base’s participation in a March 30 drill at North Oldham High School was no exception.
Emergency crews and students set up a simulation that showed the effects of drinking and driving. Crews airlifted one student from the scene, and another was taken away by the county coroner. A mock funeral took place the next morning for that student.
Thanking the AMKY staff for its participation, North Oldham Fire Department Training and Fire Prevention
Coordinator Don Dahl said, “In the discussions with students and administration after the event, I believe we hit our target and things went well. I’m hoping today is the only time we see any of those kids again!”
