Corporate Reorganization Joins Together KY, MI, OH

A number of administrative structure changes have been taking place within Air Methods Corporation over the last few months in an effort to help improve cash flow, reduce expenses, and improve management processes in the face of the country’s challenging economic conditions.

A new organizational structure on the regional and program level took effect nationwide in April 2009, modeled after the Kentucky and Florida programs. The Northeast region will be divided into two areas, BA5 and BA6. The west area (A5) will consist of Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan, while the east area (BA6) includes Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York.

Air Methods will eliminate the traditional program directors’ positions. Business managers will be introduced to perform customer interface and explore new opportunities, and services managers will perform daily logistical operations.

The corporate reorganization is focused on the regional and field management level in order to reduce cost and improve process, services, and safety of operation. This structure also leverages opportunities to find optimal services for our customers. From an operations perspective, the new structure is focused on improving base in-service time through 1) increased spare aircraft availability, 2) improved access to heavy maintenance facilities, 3) improved personnel coverage, 4) limiting management’s direct reports to six to 10 individuals 5) improved pilot training process.

On the local level, only minor changes have taken place, mainly directed toward changes in job descriptions. Kentucky will continue to work towards improving standardization of aircraft and equipment across the state. Increased focus will be placed on improving reimbursement procedures.

Air Methods Kentucky looks forward to being able to provide even better care and service to its customers through these organizational adjustments.
