March 4, 2009 Air Methods Kentucky Cancels EMS Week Events for 2009
LEXINGTON — Because of poor global economic conditions, Air Methods Kentucky has cancelled plans for their annual “EMS Appreciation Cruise” and “Heroes and Legends” ballgame during National EMS Week. “After consultation with our management team, we have regrettably decided to cancel this year’s events,” said Ron Walter, Air Methods Kentucky Area Administrative Business Director. “Considering the tough times we’re all experiencing, we just didn’t feel these costly events were appropriate either for our corporation or for the many EMS professionals who would need to make travel and accommodation arrangements to participate.” “Our decision to cancel these two events has not been taken lightly,” Walter said. “For more than ten years, these free events have been held to show our appreciation to you, for your dedication and commitment to community service and your impact on patient care. Our appreciation has not wavered.” “We also understand that these events have become a tradition that many of us look forward to,” Walter said. “While we are canceling these events this year, we have every intention to bring these events back as soon as economic conditions improve.” “We are honored and humbled by our almost 8,000 guests over the years, and we hope you understand our position to be fiscally responsible in these challenging times,” Walter said.
