Announces 2008 Tim Hynes Award Winner IAFP
Press Release The
International Association of Flight Paramedics (IAFP) is pleased to
announce Bill Milan as the 2008 recipient of the Tim Hynes Award. Bill
is a Flight Paramedic with Air Methods - STATCARE in Bill
began his career in the air medical field as a STATCARE outreach
educator before being promoted to fulltime flight paramedic. Today, Bill
is well known and respected as a paramedic both locally and throughout
the state. He was recently selected as the recipient of the Kentucky
Ambulance Providers’ Associations 2007 Above and Beyond Award. Barren-Metcalfe
County Ambulance Service, director, Michael Swift, said, “I have
always know Bill to be passionate and driven in improving his knowledge
and skills in emergency medical care in order to deliver the very best
care possible to his patients.” As
a dedicated and passionate educator, Bill works tirelessly to challenge
others to further their education and patient care skills. He is an
instructor for various training programs not only for his agency and
staff, but for countless others including the general public, first
responders, EMT’s, paramedics and other health care professionals.
Bill is currently working with local law enforcement agencies to
establish a SWAT Medic program to provide emergency medical support for
law enforcement agencies. Bill is a leader within his program, always
willing to mentor others. He is also a leader on a state level,
providing local representation as an IAFP State Delegate for the state
of Tim
Hynes was one of the founding members of the IAFP and contributed
endless amounts of time and effort promoting the paramedic profession.
On January 11, 1998, Tim was killed when his air medical helicopter
crashed while on a mission near The
Tim Hynes Award is sponsored by Bell Helicopter, a Textron Company. The
award includes a check for $500 and a certificate of recognition. The
recipient also receives complimentary registrations to the CCTMC and
FP-C Exam, as well as a one-year extension of IAFP membership. The award
will be presented on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, during the Critical Care
Transport Medicine Conference in The
IAFP is dedicated to providing advocacy, leadership development and
educational opportunities for critical care paramedics. We strive
to strengthen and unite all critical caregivers to enhance safe,
