About Us
Air
Methods Kentucky is a full-service air medical transport system based
throughout Kentucky.
Our
aircraft are available 24/7/365, with overlapping service areas of
coverage that help ensure a helicopter is readily available for your
needs. We operate 10 helicopter ambulances and one fixed
wing ambulance, and our state offices are headquartered
in Lexington.
We
began in 1982 as the first civilian air medical program in Kentucky. In 1995 we became the first air medical program in the state to
earn CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport
Systems) accreditation. With a mission of safety, quality, and
integrity, Air Methods Kentucky is committed to providing its
patients and medical and emergency service partners with a high level
of care and professionalism.
What
We Do
Air
Methods Kentucky responds to scene requests as well as interfacility
transfers. We are routinely called for rapid transport of trauma
patients to trauma centers, cardiac patients to receiving facilities
with interventional cardiology capabilities (often times going
directly to waiting cath lab staff), and stroke patients to
designated stroke centers, as well as medical, pediatric, surgical,
and obstetrics patients. We offer a specialty neonatal transport team.
Patients requiring critical care transport from outlying facilities
to tertiary facilities due to intravenous medications, mechanical
ventilation, unstable airway, or time-critical conditions are
routinely transported by Air Methods Kentucky.
