Air Methods Kentucky: Louisville Base (KY-7)

KY-7 has a long history in the state, originating in 1982 as Jewish Hospital SKYCARE, the first civilian helicopter air medical program in Kentucky. In 1998 SKYCARE and University of Louisville Hospital STAT Flight merged into Louisville Medical Center STATCARE. STATCARE was later purchased by CJ Systems Aviation Group, and in 2007 CJ was acquired by Air Methods Corporation. Under Air Methods, the Community Based Services program Life Net Kentucky combined with the STATCARE Louisville, Bedford, and Glasgow bases as well as the MedFlight of East Kentucky program, and what emerged is now known as Air Methods Kentucky.

The base flies a BK117 with two-patient transport capabilities.

KY-7 is proud to partner with Kosair Children's Hospital Just For Kids neonatal specialty team, which trains with and uses the Air Methods Kentucky rotor and fixed wing aircraft for its neonatal transports.
